Abigail Averbach

Abigail currently manages the Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH) Coordination Unit at the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, a unit focused on both prevention and response to SEAH and related abuse of power.  Previously she served in the Global Fund’s Office of the Inspector General as a Senior Investigator specializing in human rights violations, including sexual exploitation and abuse.  Prior to joining the international development community, Abigail served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice, leading human and narcotics trafficking prosecutions and co-chairing a multidisciplinary taskforce aimed at combatting sex and labor trafficking against the backdrop of an opiate epidemic.  Abigail began her career in New York City as an Assistant District Attorney focused primarily on sex crimes, domestic violence, and criminal coercion prosecutions.
